As a business looking to grow in reach, visibility and market size, developing and deploying effective marketing strategies is only possible when you understand and can reach your target audience.


How well do you know your target market? Where to find them? What do they like? Being able to answer these questions among others is a strong determinant of how well your market reach can grow significantly.


Here are some tips on how to reach your target market:

Observe the methods used by your competitors to connect with their audience, pick one or two strategies and tailor a plan that fits your own unique market.

Avoid assumptions and get to really know your audience by researching existing information about your customers’ interests, habits, likes and dislikes. Remember you’re trying to create something that adds value to their lifestyle so you need to learn about their habits just as much as you put into creating your product.


Create the Ideal Customer Profile

Having collected all this information from research, create a template customer profile around them and prepare a plan that will appeal to this specific person you're speaking to. Your customer profile would include age, gender, earing, location, affiliate interests, habits and lifestyle.

Observe the methods used by your competitors to connect with their audience, pick one or two strategies and tailor a plan that fits your own unique market. Add a customer review to your website, put a call across after services have been rendered and simply speak to them. Sometimes customers might not have the time to give feedback. You can slide in an incentive such as a gift or discount towards a future purchase to encourage engagement.

Nothing is constant, especially your customers' buying behaviour. Check in on your target audience and modify your strategy if there's been a shift in buying behaviour of your market. Market trends change as do consumers' habits, so, it's important to routinely carry out these research and surveys then review strategies for reaching your target market.
